AECN 896: Advanced Beef Cattle Economics


Dr. Mark AECN 896 is a course for a graduate students in the Departments of Animal Science and Agricultural Economics at University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The course concentrates on providing background in economic theory and tools to analyze economic problems for non agricultural economists.

Course Objectives:
This course is designed to provide economics and marketing training to graduate students concentrating their animal science program of study in beef cattle production, nutrition, reproduction, meat science, and other related areas and for agricultural economics students with interests in applied research in the beef cattle industry. Students will study supply and demand theory and contemporary issues associated with production economics, economics of demand, and market structure. Additionally, students will learn to apply economic decision aids to practical problems. Specifically, the course is designed to provide an opportunity for students to prepare a preliminary proposal and research project that incorporates economic concepts and tools to their applied thesis research.
