Mapping Farm Program Payments

Mapping Farm Program Payments

Farm program payments from the county-level Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC-CO) program provide support to producers when actual crop revenue (calculated at county average yields and national average prices) falls below a revenue guarantee tied to moving average yields and prices.

The payment rates are a function of actual price and yield levels in relation to guarantee levels. As a result, the payment rates can vary substantially across counties, crops, practices, and years. The following link to a Tableau mapping tool allows users to analyze payment rates per base acre as well as total revenue (actual crop revenue plus ARC-CO payments) per base acre as a percentage of the ARC-CO guarantee. While the pament rates illustrate actual payments to producers enrolled in the ARC-CO program, the percentage calculations demonstrate that any ARC-CO payments provide only partial coverage for crop revenue losses below the guarantee.
