Biography

Dr. Stokes was raised on a row crop and livestock farm in Northwest Indiana. He attended Purdue University earning a B.S. in Agricultural Economics before attending the University of Missouri to earn his M.S. in Agricultural Economics. Stokes earned a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics with a minor in Financial Economics from the Mays Business School at Texas A&M. Prior to coming to Nebraska, Dr. Stokes has held faculty appointments at Texas A&M, the University of Tennessee, Penn State University, and the University of Northern Iowa (Finance). He teaches undergraduate Agricultural Finance (AECN 452/852) and Farm and Rural Property Appraisal (AECN 453). Dr. Stokes conducts research on farmland valuation, credit risk measurement, and stress testing techniques for banks.
